The Tropics

The Tropics was inspired by my love of the Caribbean. I am a total beach bum during the summer. From a young age I went down the Wildwood with my parents every year. My fondest childhood memories are walking down the boardwalk and being tossed into the ocean by my dad. We also made sure to win every game so I had every stuffed animal possible.

Fast forward to 2019, I was having a tough year between losing both my aunt and grandma to cancer. I wanted a relaxing vacation after that. Shane worked for Marriott at the time so we used his employee discount to book this trip to Aruba. I was so excited, as you know I live to travel. We booked the hotel that had the flamingo beach. I was pumped. Then BAM! COVID……

everything was shut down, I was forced to cancel this trip. Still one of the saddest days. Somehow we still ended up vacating during COVID. We went down to Cape May instead.

Anyway, Thankfully we had an airline voucher that came in handy for a trip to Ireland a few years after COVID.

After our Ireland trip Shane wanted to relax. I did too. We rebooked Aruba. I found the perfect Hotel. We went off the beaten path finding spots that weren’t in USD. We found the best restaurants. It was such an amazing experience seeing the Caribbean waters for the first time. Being able to float in the water, since it has a higher salt content.

Relaxing…..for the first time in months I felt my brain actually turn off.

Not checking my emails, not working on social media, not being on my phone!

One of the first trips that I was not glued to it.

Walking around the Capital, Oranjestad. Seeing all of the brightly colored buildings and dutch architecture made my day! The color palette in this piece is meant to inspire the joy I found in the Caribbean.

Measuring 11 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, this original acrylic painting is one of a kind piece. It is signed by the artist on the back of the canvas and includes a certificate of authenticity.
